The Catholic Church in Kenya is committed to the care of God`s creation. This commitment is evident in the recent Pope Francis` Encyclical, Laudato SI, “On the Care of our Common Home” 2015.
The Catholic Church in Kenya forms a big population of about 14 Million of the 42 million Kenyans. It owns and manages several institutions including schools, hospitals, colleges, universities and places of worship. The Catholic Church also owns pieces of land among other properties. All these are assets in the promotion of positive change in the society.
Moreover the structure of the Catholic Church is very reliable and its leadership stable. All these ensure stability in carrying out a systematic program to save our planet earth.
Our faith, our scripture, and the social doctrine of the Church mandate us to care for environment and we believe that this is a calling.
The Catholic Church in Kenya is therefore committed to support any initiative that shares in its universal mission in ensuring an integral development of human person. By caring for environment, the Church responds not only to the physical but also the spiritual needs of the people it serves. All Christ`s faithful are called to participate in this noble initiative in order to save the earth together with others.
